One of my favorite releases of last year, MOTHER is a band you need to know. Raw emotion and catchy melodies make for some of the best music coming out of Japan today.

Tragic Film - Demo
Power violence from Tokyo. Reminds me of the current breed ala Punch, with a little bit of emo-violence thrown in the mix too.

Sensitive Within The Sight - 2nd Demo
Melodic, brutal Japanese metalcore. You can definitely hear similarities to bands like State Craft, NOTIIBELIKESOMEONE, and Community Trust. Extremely pleasing listen.

Pretty sweet emotional hardcore/screamo stuff from Gong Gong Valley. These guys are from Sendai, which is a little off the beaten path, so I haven’t heard much from them. Looks like that needs to change!

Rad new video of sto cosi cosi. These guys play hyper-fast thrash with some nice melodies. Check out a free demo here: http://stocosicosi.bandcamp.com/

First videos up from Impulse Fest 2013. So many great bands played, I really wish I could’ve been there. Here we have Card, who released their debut full-length on Stiff Slack last year. They play pretty groovy indie rock. Can’t wait to see more videos from the fest!

Athelas on Bandcamp
Some new tracks to listen to on Bandcamp from Tokyo-based Athelas. They recently did a split with Hue, which I’m trying to get in the distro. Anyways, good tunes.
